Up in my grandparents house in the village, in the late summer months of August and September, they pick apples. Most of the picking is hand done and no special tools are used to pick the fruit. So i choose to address this need in my first design project.

After some research and experimentation, i narrowed down to this concept.
And it works like this..
I got confident with the design and i made a prototype..
But when i did the field testing of the concept, it did work but the user experience was not that great. The user had to balance the pole while pulling on to the string which translated into a lot of hit and try attempts for the user.
I knew that i had to get back to the drawing board and i did. This time i kept all of those factors in mind and came up with a concept which not only was simple to make, but ensured great user experience and confidence while using the product.

The concept works on a simple principle of one metal rod going through another metal rod having a slit at the end which helps cut the fruit off of the branch.
The two grips ensure a very sturdy operation no matter how you wish to use it.
